You Can Handle The Truth When I was young, I trusted what I heard on the news reports from guys like Walter Cronkite. I assumed they were telling the truth. It was their job. But as I got older, I saw that every human on earth has an agenda. It colors their version of the truth. So, in essence they really thought that they were telling the truth, or at least the writers of the article did. Now a days, news is more like an infomercial than a factual report. Except they don’t have to disclose at the end, how you could be maimed, financially ruined, or killed by trusting their viewpoint. So how does one go about finding the truth? Is there anyone who doesn’t have a personal hidden agenda skewing the facts? Is there anyone who just wants us to know the facts, to know the truth? Someone who thinks you can handle the truth? Why, yes there is.
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
My 1st Class in college was biology with Prof. Stanger and his opening quote was that man was a lucky genetic accident. The abnormal growth around our primitive mind somehow didn’t kill us but worked out. So, to me, there had to be a group of abnormal accidents happen at the same time to provide an opportunity to multiply this accident into the prominent version of the species, -maybe. I wasn’t a Christian man at that time, but had been raised to believe that there was nothing accidental about me. My immediate reaction to his statement was, aliens were messing with our species! There had to be a higher intelligence, tampering with the human race for Dr. Stanger’s theory to work.
2 Corinthians 4:4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
The happy accident theory of our species. It had to be true. After all I was paying a lot of money to be privilege to this information and the University was paying him a good salary to share his wisdom. Could Dr. Stanger have an evil hidden agenda? Probably not knowingly, and yet there he was misleading hundreds of young men and women as to the truth. Was he in fact an unwitting tool of the devil, promoting disinformation about Father God?
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Could a person Find the truth through these kinds of events? Proverbs 19:21You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.
I graduated from college realizing that I needed to say certain things in order to pass a class, but after the test I could throw it out. I can’t say that I always rejected all the devil’s information, but I knew that I could choose. I know now that all these strange seemingly unrelated events got me to a place where I was open to receive the Gospel.
Acts 17:26-27 From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. So even though I was unaware of God’s presence, He was orchestrating events in my life to help me to find Him and accept Him. So, doubting man’s truth at an young age actually helped me find the real truth in God’s word. And yet there is an evil one, the prince of this earth, attacking us. (continue at the top)
Myanmar Missions Trip Tim Forman April 24, 2019 The first week was three days of training for the Burmese students. We taught them how to teach games, crafts, and stories. We also covered some really powerful topics of your view of God and Christ living in us and of abiding in His word. The Lord has provided a great team this year! Nine Americans and ten Burmese. We just finished our first week at a boarding school/orphanage with about 60 children and youth. This year is the sixth year we have been there and we have literally seen the kids grow up. They are so sweet! About a dozen of them were from the neighboring community and from Buddhist background. They all heard the message of salvation and of relationship with God. We have specifically been teaching about the promises of God. Some of the children responded to the gospel. Others opened up about their personal stories. We could sense God’s love being poured though is to these little ones. When we left it was a lot of photos and tears. As a team, we had some good time sod prayer for the children and trust God to continue His good work in their lives! We just arrived at our second destination and had the first day yesterday. There are about 100/120 children and many of them new believers or Buddhist and spirit-worshippers. The Lord really anointed me to share yesterday with the youth about who God is, the salvation message, trusting God and what is truth! One young man, whom I believe is not a believer, was asking some good questions: “Is there anyone on your team that was a really bad person and God changed them?” I knew he asked that question because God was working in his heart. Praise God! We were blessed with a good hotel; the first one was pretty sketch and no one slept well. Health has been good too and God is providing all that we need to do His will! The spiritual warfare is real here and what a privilege to call upon the name of Jesus Christ!! He is Lord of all and His love and truth is for all people! Thank you all for praying! Also, our team has been memorizing and meditating on Isaiah 55!
You Can Handle The Truth Ephesians 2:1-5 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
We are being lied to every day by men under the influence of evil spirits. They say you need to do what makes you feel good, that you need to be true to your own personal truth. Because you’re a good person and if you do good stuff you’ll get into heaven. But God’s word says that when you do your own thing, you’re following the enemy. But even when you were at your worst, God was merciful and wanted to forgive you. And it’s true yet today, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. All you need to do is receive it in faith, and it’s yours. Even though we were going to pay for all of our sinful behavior, God got Jesus to pay for everything. Because God loves you He was willing to allow His Son to suffer terribly because of His mercy. Because God loves you so much we can’t imagine, He gave you a way out of the mess you’re in. He says that He will forgive you not because you do everything right or your works, but because you have faith in the work of His Son. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks about you, it’s only God who will judge you in the end. 1 John 5:19 We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one. And yet God has given us the opportunity to live out our faith by sharing His word with others and giving encouragement to those who are seeking Him. So, you finding God is not the end, but the beginning. Ephesians 2:10For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Don’t hide your light, the Bible says, let it shine. And know that if you need an ability to share your faith, it will be given to you. God has many different gifts that He can choose to give you to help in your work. God wants you to gather together as believers and build one another up and together reach out to the world and invite those we meet into our fellowship. Ephesians 4:11-14Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever, they sound like the truth. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you’re not ready yet, educated enough, outgoing enough, forgiven enough. You are who God made you to be. He has stuff for you to do and He’ll be sure to give you the talents or gifts needed to accomplish your task. We are called to just give it a shot. You might convince yourself that there is no chance this person will respond to you. But the truth is that as a believer, you have the Holy Spirit inside of you. Super natural power to accomplish what has been set in front of you. God put you in front of that person because they needed a push toward believing. You might not be the last encouragement needed but if you’re faithful, you did your part in God’s plan. Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
