Oh No It’s Valentine’s Day -Again! by David Milla
Are you married right now? Engaged? Dating? None of the above? So, what are your plans for Valentine’s day (this coming Wednesday)? If you’re married are you planning to say your annual “I Love You”, take out the trash, and pick up your socks before you get asked to? If you’re engaged or dating, are you going to take that special someone out to dinner and a movie?
I’m married and I still do the dinner thing because I do the cooking at home and when I take Bobbi out it’s like I’m taking me out for something special too.
Valentines day is a holiday designed to pester those with a significant other into spending cash or making those without someone feel totally left out or that they have to find someone real fast.
So, what if you aren’t ready for the holiday? You don’t have your guy or gal lined up yet. You know there’s going to be parties, dinners, etc. Your mom is expecting you to bring someone over who is fabulous. (By her standards). She’s expecting someone who is good looking, educated, tall, and wealthy, and yet you know mom’s fixing her specialty, chicken tenders, tater tots, with her special sauce of ketchup and ranch dressing over everything, and a sprig of parsley. There’s nothing like mom’s home cooking.
Children's Sunday School in the Parlor Bobbi Milla
Miss Willie, Mr. Mitch and I are so pleased to be part of the children’s Sunday School class that meets in the parlor every week. The Children are becoming more and more part of our FCC Church family. Their Singing and comradery with many in our Church Family has continued to grow.
This year we have been reading “One Wintry Night” by Ruth Bell Graham. The story is about a young boy, Zeb, and how he became lost during a snow storm. It has been a wonderful story that included many Bible stories. The children have enjoyed coloring and learning more about the Patriarchs in the Old Testament and about Jesus through the stories in this book.
Mr. John and Miss Willie Gore have been bringing many library books for the children to take home, read and share with their friends. We have many readers in our class. Lataysha, Destiny, Vantasia, Jaylan, Inazianna, Elijah and Dacari are some of our older children who love to read and are very creative with our crafting time.
Our younger children Destiny (the younger), Joseph W, Julius, Jeremy J, Jada, Nicholas, Destiny W, Jeremy & Javari, Timothy, Daniel, Tamia are shy about reading but love listening to the stories and really enjoy our crafting time. We have been making cards for those that are ill and they enjoy creating spinners. The next best activity the children enjoy is playing on the playground. They are always a bundle of energy when they come to church.
It has been a joy helping and teaching in this Sunday School class. Watching these little ones grow physically and especially learning about Jesus and growing in the Lord, has been a blessing to all three of us teachers. Please keep our children in your prayers as they learn about Jesus and draw closer to him.
